Crushing & Grinding: Two-stage crushing (Jaw Crusher + Cone Crusher) to reduce ore size below 15 mm. The crushed ore is then ground in a ball mill operating in closed circuit with a hydrocyclone to achieve a target grind size of 80% passing 75 microns.
Carbon Screening & Handling: Interstage screens (Johnson-type) at each tank separate the loaded carbon from the slurry. Loaded carbon is advanced to the elution circuit, while barren slurry reports to the tailings disposal system.
Gold Smelting: The gold-loaded cathodes are rinsed and smelted in an induction furnace at 1200°C with fluxes to produce a high-purity gold doré bar.
Tailing Disposal & Cyanide Detoxification: The barren tailings are treated in a cyanide destruction unit (using the SO2/Air process) to meet environmental standards. The detoxified tailings are then pumped to a secure tailings storage facility (TSF).
Leaching & Adsorption (CIL): The ground ore slurry is fed into a series of 8 mechanically agitated CIL tanks. Sodium cyanide (NaCN) is added for gold dissolution, while lime (CaO) maintains the slurry at an optimal pH of 10.5-11.0. Activated carbon is added directly to the tanks, allowing simultaneous leaching and adsorption of gold onto the carbon over a total retention time of 30 hours.
Elution & Electrowinning: Loaded carbon is acid-washed and then treated in a pressurized Zadra-style elution column to strip the gold. The resulting pregnant solution is passed through electrowinning cells where gold is deposited onto steel wool cathodes.
Carbon Regeneration: Stripped carbon is thermally regenerated in a rotary kiln to restore its activity before being recycled to the CIL circuit.
