Mineral Liberation and Grinding Optimization:Proper grinding to achieve adequate mineral liberation is essential. Over-grinding can produce excessively fine particles, which may decrease flotation efficiency. Optimizing grinding processes ensures that tungsten minerals are sufficiently liberated from the gangue without creating excessive slimes.
Selection of Appropriate Collectors and Reagents:The use of tailored flotation reagents, such as collectors, depressants, and frothers, specific to tungsten minerals like scheelite or wolframite, can enhance flotation. For example, fatty acids or modified reagents are commonly used to improve scheelite floatability, while depressants like sodium silicate can suppress undesirable gangue minerals.
Temperature and pH Control:Skarn tungsten ores often require specific pH ranges to optimize flotation performance. For example, scheelite flotation typically works well in an alkaline environment. Temperature adjustments may also help improve reagent performance and mineral recovery.
Pre-Flotation Desliming and Multi-Stage Cleaning:Slimes and ultrafine particles can interfere with flotation performance. Desliming removes fine particles that may destabilize the froth or consume reagents without contributing to recovery. Multi-stage cleaning processes, including roughing, scavenging, and cleaning steps, ensure higher-grade concentrates and minimize impurities.
By addressing these factors, flotation efficiency in skarn tungsten ore can be significantly improved, resulting in better recovery rates and concentrate quality.
