   • The solvent percolates (trickles) through the ore, dissolving the desired metals or minerals.

4. Leachate Collection:

   • The solution, now containing the dissolved metals (called the pregnant leach solution), is collected at the bottom of the heap or tank.

5. Metal Recovery:

   • The dissolved metals are extracted from the leach solution using methods such as precipitation, solvent extraction, or electrowinning.

6. Recycling and Disposal:

   • The remaining solution, called the barren solution, is often recycled back into the system after chemical adjustment.
   • Any waste or tailings are properly disposed of to minimize environmental impact.

Percolation leaching is widely used to extract metals like:
