Cathode material is one of the key materials to determine the performance of lithium-ion batteries, and it is also the main source of lithium ions in commercial lithium-ion batteries. At present, the main cathode materials successfully developed and applied are lithium cobaltate, lithium iron phosphate (LFP), lithium manganate, ternary materials lithium nickel-cobalt-manganate (NCM) and lithium nickel-cobalt-aluminate (NCA). LFP is the most popular cathode materials now. Its main characteristics are low cost, very high safety, and high cycle life, which make lithium iron phosphate materials quickly become a research hotspot, and lithium iron phosphate batteries have also been widely used in the field of electric vehicles. Iron phosphate, lithium carbonate and glucose are blended in a certain proportion by the dosing system and then passed through the buffer bin to the sand ginding mill.
The wet type sand mill grinding system can grind the materials into nanoscale powder with size 300-350nm through multi-stage grinding. The qualified powder from the the classification system and then sent to the reactor for dispersion and mixing process.
Using high-speed rotating spray drying equipment, the nanometerized mixed material slurry is dried to form composite particles. And then the dries materials will be sent to the crucible feeding sytem of baking furnaces.
We recommend to adopt the roller kiln for the baking process work. During the high temperature condition, the mixed material will be converted to lithium iron phosphate chemically. Nitrogen protective atmosphere is necessary for the calcination process.
The jet mill, cyclone, dust collector and induced draft fan form a complete milling system. After the compressed air is filtered and dried, it is sprayed into the milling chamber at high speed through the laval nozzle. At the intersection of multiple high-speed air flows, the material is repeatedly collided, rubbed, sheared and crushed.
The cathode material LFP from jet mill will be sent to the final product handling system which include mixer, magnetic separation, sieving and packing system.The mixer is for mixing the multi batch final product before packing for ensure the stable property. Dry type high magnetic separator is specialy designed for removing the mechanical iron in ultrafine powder which generated during processing.
